The Dances of Jane Austen-Sunday 31st August

£10.00

Sunday 31st August, 1-4pm

The Mount School, Dalton Terrace, York

Join us for a fabulous dance workshop celebrating the 250th Birthday of Jane Austen. In this class we’ll focus on dances featured in adaptations of Jane Austen’s work. From 1995 BBC’s Pride and Prejudice to the 2020 Emma adaptation- we’ll take a look at how the dances were done on screen and compare them to the original sources!

We’ll learn how one would conduct oneself in Austen’s England and practice our dance moves so you’re ready to meet Mr Darcy on the dance floor!

Expect to learn some of the most popular dances from the period (and still today!) and learn about how they were adapted for the screen. This workshop will cover a selection of regency dances and is suitable for beginners as well as those more experienced. No need to bring a partner just suitable comfy shoes for dancing.
