Join us for a perfectly delectable tea party in the gorgeous De Grey Rooms for a truly regency afternoon.

Our afternoon starts in honour of Jane with a quiz about her life and works- will your team win our bookish prize?

We will then be “Taking Tea” accompanied by the gorgeous melodies of Vitula String Duo. You are sure to be satiated by our selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes. 

After tea you’ll be able to participate in an abundance of regency themed crafts and activities with a few goodies of your own to take home! Make your own bookmark or card to take home, write a regency letter to your latest suitor, learn the language of the fan and play a hand of whist.

Then it's time to get your dancing shoes on to learn some regency dances in preparation for tonight's ball. Not coming to the ball? No worries, come along anyway to learn how to boogie with Mr Darcy!

Join us for a fabulous dance workshop celebrating the 250th Birthday of Jane Austen. In this class we’ll learn some of the most popular dances from the period (and still today!) We’ll learn how one would conduct oneself in Austen’s England and practice our dance moves so you’re ready to meet Mr Darcy on the dance floor!

This class is suitable for beginners as well as those more experienced. No need to bring a partner just suitable comfy shoes for dancing.

Join Rachel Hogue for a talk all about Regency women’s fashion and learn what Jane Austen would have worn throughout her lifetime.

Rachel will guide guests through the layers of a Regency woman’s wardrobe—from undergarments to gown— with a live dressing demonstration. Learn about how society, politics and style influenced fashions from the late Georgian to the Regency era and discover what Jane Austen's wardrobe would have looked liked.

Retire to the drawing room with us for a relaxed interlude to the day's events. A chance to talk to other guests and make new found friends as well as catch up with old ones. Feel free to bring your own craft (sewing, knitting, etc.) or partake in our selection of games, puzzles and activities.

And of course feel free to make use of our changing area to prepare yourself for the evening's festivities.

Dance the night away with our festive regency ball.

Jane Austen was born on the 16th December 1775 and it seems only fitting that on her 250th birthday we celebrate in style! Join us at the wonderful De Grey Room Ballroom for a magical night of dancing, frolics and fun! Our dance mistress will guide you through the steps as you move your feet to a live band. Come along and celebrate Jane’s birthday in true regency style!
