Free Georgian Dance Workshop at Doncaster Mansion House (Heritage Open Days)
A special Open Day at Doncaster's eighteenth century Mansion House. There will be guided tours led by costumed volunteer guides, a Children's Discovery trail and a workshop on Georgian dancing in the Ballroom. Tea and coffee will be available.

Sunday 29th September 2024, 2-5pm
Within this workshop we'll cover some of the popular styles of social dancing from the period such as the carole (circle or line dances) and branle. We'll then head over to the courts of Europe to learn an Italian stlye ballo before returning to the earliest known text of English dances- The Gresley Manuscript.
Sunday 20th October 2024, 2-5pm
The Nineteenth Century opened with Europe at war, but arts and entertainment continued to flourish across borders. In this workshop we'll cover some popular dances of the Victorian period.
We'll learn country dances and quadrilles from the era as well as touching on popular couple dancing from the time such as the waltz and the polka.
Sunday 24th November 2024, 2-5pm
We'll be looking at the traditional dances for classic Christmas Carols as well as tackling some of my favourite dances from various different periods.
