One of the reasons I love the historic dance community is that (unlike some other forms of reenactment) costumes don’t have to be 100% authentic and therefore it is so much more affordable and accessible. I cheat with my costume and use modern under layers, a handmade dress and modern/ homemade accessories to create a historic look for a vintage ball which allows me to take part comfortably but also looks great in photos!
